1. Your agreement with Hillbase
Hillbase operates this service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use Hillbase for an organization, you must have authority to accept them for that organization.
Questions about these terms: support@hillbase.com. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
2. Accounts and API keys
You sign in using a code or link sent to your e-mail. Keep access to that e-mail secure and provide an address you control. You are responsible for activity through your account and API keys. Keep keys private, revoke exposed keys and tell us promptly about unauthorized access.
Connected apps use your authorization to access Hillbase through MCP. Review and revoke their access from your account when it is no longer needed.
3. Plans, credits and billing
| Plan | Price | Daily allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 1,000 calls/day |
| Pro | US$49/month | 50,000 calls/day |
| Business | US$249/month | 500,000 calls/day |
Usage is charged in credits per call. The allowance assumes one-credit calls; some operations cost more. For example, an address profile costs 10 credits and a nearby permit search costs 2. The API response headers report credits charged and remaining. Daily allowances reset at 00:00 UTC and do not roll over. Rate limits also apply. See pricing and the documentation.
Stripe handles paid subscriptions, recurring monthly billing and cancellation. Review the price, any applicable taxes and renewal details at checkout. Manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal in your account. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access to the paid plan continues to the end of the paid period. Payments already made are not refunded except where required by law. Account deletion revokes service access immediately and schedules subscription cancellation at the end of the billing period.
4. Acceptable use
You may integrate Hillbase answers into your applications within your plan. You must not:
- Resell the data as a dataset, reconstruct the underlying datasets, or bulk-export them through repeated queries.
- Circumvent rate limits, usage allowances, API keys or access controls, including by spreading use across accounts.
- Use the service for unlawful profiling of individuals or other unlawful activity.
- Interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access or disclose another account’s keys.
Batch queries remain subject to the same use restrictions and credit charges.
5. Informational outputs and public data
Hillbase combines records from public publishers and OpenStreetMap. © OpenStreetMap contributors. OpenStreetMap data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). See data attribution for publisher and licence notices. These terms do not replace rights or obligations under the underlying open-data licences.
Outputs are informational. Property tax estimates, assessments and school catchments are not legal, tax, financial or school-placement advice. Estimates may omit exemptions or depend on incomplete or older records. The publisher’s own tools and records are authoritative; confirm important decisions with the municipality, school authority or other responsible publisher.
Coverage differs by capability and region. A missing result does not prove that a record does not exist. Data and service are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of completeness, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability, to the extent permitted by law.
6. Availability and termination
Free and Pro have no service-level agreement (SLA). We may perform maintenance, change features or suspend unavailable data. Any separate written service commitment applies only as agreed.
You may stop using Hillbase at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access for a breach of these terms, abuse, security risks, non-payment or a legal requirement. Where practical, we will explain the reason and allow you to resolve it. Termination does not erase amounts already owed or obligations that should continue, including use restrictions and liability terms.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Hillbase is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost data or losses arising from reliance on an output. Hillbase’s total liability arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid Hillbase in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. We will publish the updated terms here with a new date and give notice of material changes through the website or your account e-mail before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Disputes are subject to the courts of British Columbia, subject to any mandatory rights under applicable law.
